Frequently Asked Questions

  • For Gold Rates
  • For Gold Jewellery
  • Why do we take advance money in the case of gold jewelry?

As it is customized jewelry that we are crafting for you, so in order to process the order, we need an advance amount of INR 10,000 and even more. Depending upon the requirements of the customer, we share bifurcations as well.

  • How do you calculate the gold jewelry price?

There are several factors that affect the final amount you pay for your gold jewelry. Jewelers include gold rate price, metal purity, making charges, taxes, etc. However, at GemPundit, we calculate gold jewelry prices depending on two factors, i.e, the cost of the metal used, metal purity, and the jewelry making charges. Add Cost of customized jewelry

  • What are your per gram-making charges?

Making charges for our gold jewelry range from INR 1600 to INR 3200 per gram, based on design complexity or customization. These charges apply to yellow, white, and rose gold for both Indian and international buyers. Rates may vary with design intricacy or customization, and CAD charges can also affect the final price.

  • Which date gold prices will I be charged?

The price of gold keeps on varying and hence to maintain accuracy we follow a norm. You will be charged according to the day we receive the advance payment. Whatever the gold price may be on that particular day we will calculate it accordingly. For example, you have placed a gold jewelry order on 12-02-2021 when the price of Gold was INR 20,000 but you made the advance payment two days later, that is, on 14-02-2021, and on that day the price of gold must have fluctuated to INR 22,000, so we will charge on the basis of INR 22,000.

  • Is it necessary to buy new gold for any jewelry design or can I exchange/use my old gold for it? If yes, what is the procedure for the same?

IYes, we do design jewelry using your old gold. But there is a different procedure that you need to follow. Firstly, you need to send us the old jewelry along with the old purchase invoice to the address provided. You can send it to us with any of the one-day courier services (e.g DTDC courier services). Once we receive your order, the metal test will be conducted through which we get an accurate idea of the percentage of purity test and weight. Based on the calculations, we will use your old gold. Once the order is completed, we will calculate the weight of gold and whatever weight that is taken out of it, accordingly, the charges would be calculated and provided.

  • Can I return the order? If yes, then what is the return policy?

Customers can place a return request within 10 days of its delivery against a store credit or a refund worth 75% of the invoice value. The item(s) must be in their original and unused condition with the Original Product Certificate and Original/Copy of Invoice, packaging, documentation, lab certificates, discount coupons, etc. at the time of returning the product. Please note that the Platinum jewelry is 100% non-refundable. For more information, read our Return and Replacement Policy .

  • Is the Gold used in jewelry making Hallmarked? How to ensure the authenticity of the gold?

All our gold jewelry comes up with a BIS hallmarking which clearly states the authenticity and quality of our gold jewelry. Customers can also get it tested from BIS hallmark centers. Our gold jewelry is made from 22 karat - 916 gold. 916 is basically used to denote the purity of gold in the final product, i.e. 91.6 grams of pure gold in 100-gram alloy. Figure 916 is basically 22/24 (22 karats by 24 karats). Similarly, 20 karat gold has a fineness level of 883,18 karat gold is 18/24 parts gold and has a fineness level of 750, and 14 karat gold has a fineness level of 585.

  • What is the difference between Karat and Carat?

AA carat is a unit of weight. It is used to measure the weight of a gemstone (For example, Blue Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, etc) while a karat is a measurement indicating the proportion of gold in an alloy out of 24 parts. For example, 18K gold is 18/24 parts gold. However, the use of carat (in place of karat) to indicate the fineness of gold is also considered acceptable.

  • How do I clean or care for my gold jewelry?

Cleaning gold jewelry at home is the simplest and most suitable way to keep your gold jewelry lustrous and new. Follow the steps mentioned below and retain the original shine of your gold jewelry:

    1. Mix a spoon of dish detergent in lukewarm water.

    2. Gently add a few drops of ammonia to it.

    3. Use a soft toothbrush and gently brush off all the dirt from your gold jewelry

    4. Once the dirt is removed, you can now place the gold jewelry in clean lukewarm water to rinse.

    5. Dry your gold jewelry with a clean towel and regain the luster that went missing.

  • I want to see your jewelry in person first and then decide. How can I do that?

Prior appointment is required for loose gemstones and gemstone jewelry. You can send us your design and we will get it customized for you. There is a customization process that we follow:

    1. Share your design ideas with us and get a free Jewelry Consultation from our expert.

    2. After finalizing the design, the customer is required to make advance payment and CAD experts will design your jewelry. However, you can customize your jewelry a maximum of 3 times.

    3. After that, additional charges of INR 1,000 will be applicable. You can also view the final customized product through HD pictures and videos. Own your bespoke creation and treasure it for a lifetime.

  • Do you make rings if gemstones are provided?

We only take custom jewelry orders for gemstones that are sourced from our catalog. Gold jewelry and colored gemstones are incredibly precious and the process of jewelry-making incurs safety and security. Therefore, we do not take outsourced gemstones to make custom-made jewelry.

  • What are the charges of Platinum Jewelry?

The charges of Platinum Jewelry are INR 5,500 including making charges per gram.

  • I ordered one platinum ring and one gold ring. The weight of the platinum used in the ring is double the weight of gold. Why?

The weight of platinum used to make jewelry is always double the weight of the gold used. This is because of the density of the metal. For example, if 10g of platinum is used to make a ring, then 5g of gold will be used to make the same ring.

  • Can 22K Rose Gold and 22K White Gold be used to make jewelry?

No, 22K Rose Gold and 22K White Gold cannot be used to make jewelry as they can affect the quality of the gold metal. It is recommended to use 18K rose gold and 18K white gold for jewelry as it makes the jewelry more durable and gives the perfect color. 18K white gold jewelry is made primarily of 75% gold along with other durable metals like nickel and copper. On the other hand, 18K rose gold jewelry contains 75% gold and 25% copper.

  • Can I customize my own design? Are there any charges?

Yes, you can customize your own design. However, if you wish to customize your own design you are required to pay the additional customization charges of INR 4,500.
