Quality & Price
A 7-carat ruby gemstone is a rare and luxurious gem, its size making it a true standout. Larger rubies can drastically change a piece’s price since supply and demand rise much quicker for these sizes than for smaller stones. Due to higher quality, color, clarity, and particularly the origin a ruby 7-carat will cost more than the ruby whose carat weight may be higher but does not match the 7-carat ruby stone in other qualities.
- On an average basis, the 7-carat Manik price in India starts from as low as INR 3,000 (36 USD) and goes up to INR 615,000 (USD 7,380). The cost can exceed depending on the quality and overall appeal of the gemstone.
Note: The prices mentioned above are only stated on an average basis and not based on per carat. Each gemstone’s price can vary depending on the size, quality, color, and overall condition.
Origin
The origin of a 7-carat ruby gemstone is important when it comes to its price and quality:
- Among the Burmese rubies, the stones from the Mogok area are considered to be the best. These are called ‘pigeon’s blood’ red, and they are priced the highest. Mozambique rubies known for their high transparency and intense red color give a royal look at a slightly more affordable price.
- Thai rubies are generally slightly darker and offer a classier option for a slightly cheaper price. Pinkish-red Sri Lankan rubies are less saturated yet supply a perfect combination of quality and demand coming from clients and are much more affordable compared to Bolivian stones.
Color
The color of a Ruby makes it very valuable and a 7-carat ruby stone is worth much as compared to a 1-carat ruby.
- The best and most expensive color is pure ‘pigeon blood red’ The subsequent is the ‘strawberry red’, ‘flea red’, and the ‘blind-pigeon red.’ Fine quality rubies with uniform dark red color are also popular.
- Ruby Gems with hints of pinkish-red or purplish-red are also attractive and cheaper as well. Every color has its touch of royalty adding to the glamor of the gemstone.
Clarity
The clarity of a 7-carat ruby gemstone significantly impacts its price and quality.
- Higher clarity rubies, with minimal inclusions like fine needle-like rutile or small, discreet gas bubbles, are prized for their purity and brilliance. Rubies with noticeable inclusions, such as large or dark spots, are less valuable but can still offer unique character.
- The clearer the ruby, the more exotic and valuable the stone becomes, which also enhances its worth.
Cut
The cut of a ruby 7-carat plays a crucial role in its price and quality.
- There are popular cuts such as the oval, cushion, or round brilliant which just add to the beauty of the ruby gemstone. These cuts allow as much light as possible to return through the gem and give the red color its best.
- On the other hand, wrongly shaped cuts may reduce the sheen of the stone or can reduce the worth of the stone. The precision cut doesn’t just show the size of the 7-carat ruby stone but also makes the ruby stand out kingsize of luxury, which makes it very pleasing to the eye.
Treatment
Some of the treatments include heating, which was done to improve color and clarity and in some rare occasions, oiling was done to fill various cracks that may be found on the surface. However, these processes help beautify the stones, and thus, untreated or least processed ruby will cost more, and they are quite rare. For a 7-carat ruby gemstone, minimal or no treatment highlights its luxurious, unaltered beauty, making it a truly prized gemstone.
