Hear What Our Valued Customers Have to Say!

  • Customized Ring with GemPundit as a present for my Dad.

I had purchased a customised ring with GemPundit as a present for my dad. The incessant questions I had regarding the process, shipping, stone quality and ring type were answered with such patience. I had made many changes along the way and the customer service representatives were very accommodating with all my requests. The best part of the experience was opening the parcel containing the finished product. It was simply sublime and my father loves the ring which he has been wearing everyday since. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

  • Gemstone
  • Is your jewellery hallmarked?

All our jewelry comes up with a govt. approved hallmarking which clearly states the authenticity and purity of our jewelry.

  • What would be the weight of the jewelry in Silver/Gold (14K/18K/22K)?

The weight of the jewelry ranges from 4-10 gms or more depending on the weight of the gemstone, intricacy of the design, size of the gemstone, weight of the diamond(s), and purity of gold or silver metal. Once the weight is determined, we provide the customer with the price range for metals like Gold in different available Karat weights ranging from 14K, 18K, and 22K.

  • Can I provide my own gold for the custom jewelry?

Yes. You can provide your own gold for your custom jewelry. But there is a different procedure that you need to follow. Firstly, you need to send us the gold along with the old purchase invoice to the address provided. You can send it to us with any of the one-day courier services (e.g DTDC courier services). Once we receive your order, the metal test will be conducted through which we get an accurate idea of the percentage of purity test and weight. Based on the calculations, we will use your old gold. Once the order is completed, we will calculate the weight of gold and whatever weight that is taken out of it, accordingly, the charges would be calculated and provided. However, we prefer and strongly suggest our customers to use our own fine quality Gold for their custom designs to keep the quality standards up to the mark.

  • If gold is left after making customized jewelry, do we return the gold in its actual form, store credit, or refund the desired amount?

If gold is left after making customized jewelry, then the amount of the gold left can either be adjusted in the future purchase or in the form of store credit.

  • How much time is taken to complete the jewellery?

The CAD rendering can take up to 10 days to make silver jewelry, 15 days to make gold jewelry, and 25 days to make platinum jewelry. Additionally, if the customer needs a gem lab certificate, then the jewelry can take extra days to deliver. For example, an IGI certificate can take up to 5 days. Also, any Pooja Energization service can take up to extra 1-3 days, depending upon the type of Pooja a customer requires.

  • Can I make changes once the jewellery is complete?

Yes, you can re-customize your jewelry but it will incur additional charges. Re-making charges will apply per gram. For example, if the ring size needs to be increased by 1, then INR 500 will be charged. If the ring size is below or above 1, then additional jewelry costs will be applied. Also, re-dispatch shipping charges will be applied. For silver jewelry, jewelry cost will be applied.

  • Which metals are used in Panchdhatu?

Panchdhatu is made using 5 metals, namely, Gold, Silver, Copper, Iron, and Zinc.

  • Do we provide hallmarking in Panchdhatu jewelry?

No, we do not provide hallmarking in Panchdhatu jewelry.

  • Why does silver and panchdhatu jewelry gets tarnished?

Oxidation of metal is known as tarnishing. Tarnishing of silver and panchdhatu jewelry is caused when the surface of the metal comes in contact with body oils, makeup, sulphur, sweat, perfumes, deodorants, or moisturizers. This is a natural process where the metal interacts with sulphur-bearing pollutants in the environment, to create a sulphide layer over its surface, resulting in the visible discoloration or blackening of a piece of jewelry. The amount of oxidation that occurs on an individual piece of jewelry depends on many factors including how detailed the jewelry is combined with the habits and care of the person who wears the jewelry. As long as the jewelry is certified with a hallmark on it, there is no need to doubt the quality/purity of the metal used.

  • What is the difference between 22K and 18K and which is more durable?

In 22K, 91.6% is pure gold and the rest 8.3% consists of metals like Silver, Zinc, Nickel, and other alloys. Similarly, in 18K, 75% is pure gold, and the rest 25% consists of other metals or alloys.

However, the use of other metals or alloys in 18K gold makes the overall mixture a little harder and helps in making gold jewelry more durable. This 22K gold is soft and still not hard enough. It can be used to make plain jewelry and it is not strong enough to hold diamonds and gemstones in studded jewelry. Thus, it is recommended to make diamond-studded jewelry in 18K and gemstones studded gold jewelry can be manufactured in 22K, 18K, or lower, based on the requirements.

  • Why don't we make Ashtdhatu jewelry?

Ashtdhatu is a composition of eight metals including gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, tin, iron, and antimony or mercury. However, the presence of certain metals in Ashtdhatu can cause cancer in the human body, so we do not recommend our customers to wear Ashtdhatu jewelry. Also, we wear gemstones daily, and wearing Ashtdhatu jewelry daily can lead to serious health issues.

  • How do I clean or care for my jewelry?

Cleaning jewelry at home is the simplest and most suitable way to keep your jewelry lustrous and new. Here are some considerations when cleaning and caring for your jewelry:

    1. Daily Wipe Down: When you remove the jewelry at the end of the day, wipe it with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or oils. For storage, use a fabric-lined case instead of leaving items on the nightstand or putting them in a drawer. Wrap each piece in soft tissue or paper.

    2. Mild Cleansers: The best way to clean your jewelry is to use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft brush. Avoid harsh compounds like chlorine bleach or ultrasonic cleaners. This solvent can damage gold jewelry. One can also mix Ammonia in lukewarm water. Add a quarter of a cup to a cup of water and leave the jewelry piece in for 20 to 30 minutes.

    3. Soft Toothbrush: Great for hard-to-remove dirt, a soft-bristled toothbrush is best for fine jewelry with non-treated diamonds. You can then rinse and dry with a soft cloth, using distilled water.

    4. Proper Storage: A fabric-lined jewelry box should have separate compartments and dividers to keep jewelry apart and prevent scratching. Anti-tarnish strips, bags, or cloths should be used for long-term storage of silver, to prevent tarnishing by airborne pollutants. Also, organic gemstones like Pearl or Coral should never be stored in a plastic zip bag. Organic gemstone jewelry needs moisture and if it is sealed packed, then luster and color can get damaged. It is recommended to wipe it with a clean cloth.

5.Avoid Storage in Direct Sunlight: Extreme exposure to light and heat can damage the gemstones.

6.Remove During Bathing/Swimming: The soap you use in a bath and chlorine used to sanitize a pool can affect the color and shine of a gemstone.

  • What is CAD?

CAD is Computer Aided Design. It is a design that occurs in a program on a computer, where you can create three-dimensional objects in the virtual world. CAD programs allow for a lot of manipulation and almost infinite detail in whatever you are doing.

  • Why do Diamond and Cubic Zirconia or CZ often come out from the ring?

Diamond and Cubic Zirconia have good durability but one should be careful while handling them. Diamond or CZ fall out of their mountings when people hit their rings inadvertently. If the prongs on the ring are too worn, they can bend easily, loosening the stone and the stone might fall from the ring. Moreover, it solely depends on the usage as well. If you are using the gemstone jewelry roughly, then there are chances that your jewelry will get damaged easily.

Similarly, for pendants, earrings, and bracelets, gemstones of any carat weight can be used to make customized jewelry. • Which is the suitable metal?

Generally, it is advised to wear gemstones in gold and silver metals. For example, Ruby should be worn in gold metal, Blue Sapphire in silver metal, Emerald in gold metal, and Yellow Sapphire should be worn in gold or silver metals. However, it is recommended to consult an astrologer before buying any gemstone.

  • Which is the suitable gemstone?

All gemstones have powerful astrological and healing benefits. According to the planetary positions in the birth chart, astrologers recommend gemstones to the wearer. Wearing the appropriate gemstone with a positive mindset can increase the corresponding planet’s positive effect on the wearer, allowing only the positive vibrations to penetrate the wearer’s body. You can also avail Free Gem Recommendation service to know which gemstone is suitable for you.

  • Are all your listed gemstones natural?

At GemPundit, we ethically source all our precious, semi-precious, and mid-precious gemstones directly from the mines. These gemstones are then made to go through rigorous tests before making it to our catalog. Moreover, our gemstones are certified to be 100% natural and authentic by reputed gemstone laboratories such as IGI, GIA, GRS, Gubelin, etc. In addition to this, our gemstones also come with a free ISO-certified govt. gem lab certificate that stipulates that our gemstones are indeed natural. However, some gemstones require treatment/enhancement to enhance their durability, stability, color, and clarity. Therefore, for treated gemstones, we have mentioned the treatment/enhancement used in the product description.

  • Would you make jewellery if I provide my own gemstones and diamonds?

We only take custom jewelry orders for gemstones and diamonds sourced from our own catalog. Diamonds and colored gemstones are incredibly precious belongings and the process of jewelry-making incurs a risk of damage. Therefore, we do not take outsourced gemstones to make custom-made jewelry.

  • Will I get a separate certificate of Diamonds used in jewelry? If not, then how will we ensure that real diamonds are used?

When small diamonds along with colored gemstones are used in the custom jewelry, we only provide the gemstone certificate as well as a jewelry certificate that acts as evidence of the authenticity of the gemstone jewelry. This jewelry certificate clearly mentions if natural diamonds are used or not. Alternatively, you could get them certified by renowned laboratories such as IGI or GIA and they would additionally provide the grading of the diamonds as well, but with an extra cost.

  • I am purchasing for astrological purposes. Will the gemstone touch my skin?

Our team is highly skilled and experienced in making astrological jewelry. Therefore, we make sure that all our astrological jewelry is made in a way that the gemstone touches the skin so that the wearer can avail maximum benefits. In the case of a gemstone ring, the gemstone touches the skin. But some cabochon-shaped gemstone rings do not touch the skin. Similarly, our pendants are designed in such a way that they touch the skin. However, depending on the design and need of the customer, not all gemstones when set in pendants, rings or bracelets touch the skin.

  • How to check if the gemstone touches the skin?

In order to check if the gemstone touches the skin, then place the gemstone ring on the backside of the little finger. After placing it, you can feel the gemstone on your finger.

  • Should we remove the gemstone when we go to the funeral?

It is advisable not to wear gemstones when attending funerals, or visiting a cremation ground. If the wearer forgets to remove the gemstone jewelry during funerals etc then, the jewelry needs to be cleansed with Ganga Jal within 24 hours.

  • After how many days or months of wearing a gemstone, Gemstone Energization Pooja is required?

Gemstone needs to be re-energized once a month. For example, Emerald gemstone should be re-energized on Wednesday, early morning and Yellow Sapphire can be re-energized on Thursday. Also, if hawan or Rudra Abhishek is happening at your home, then you can re-energize your gemstone during the puja.
