Carat to Ratti Calculator

Ratti to Carat Converter

It’s a given fact that gem buyers, specifically in India, regularly encounter the term "Ratti" while purchasing a gemstone. "Ratti" is the traditional Indian unit for measuring mass and is derived from the Sanskrit word "Raktika", as mentioned in classic Ayurvedic literature for weighing small objects. This unit is the Indian equivalent of the "Carat" weighing unit.

There are two major types of Ratti units. Goldsmiths use the "Sunari Ratti" for gold and other metals, while astrological gemstone dealers use the "Pakki Ratti" to weigh gems. It’s the Pakki Ratti unit that is typically used to weigh gems.

Vedic astrologers prescribe suitable gemstones as remedies in terms of Ratti units. However, weighing machines that measure gems in Ratti are almost negligible and are mostly weighed in "carat" units. This can create confusion, so we have provided a Ratti to Carat converter below, which converts different weighing units precisely. The tables for Ratti, Carat, Milligram, and Gram standard conversion ratios are presented below.
