Star Ruby Pendants
A Ruby turns into a Star Ruby when it shows a star shaped reflection in its body due to the presence of enhanced reflective surface. This reflective surface is due to the presence of titanium dioxide impurities in this gemstone. Furthermore, the reason behind this phenomenon is a dense inclusion of tiny rutile/ silk fibres. The presence of these rutile fibres in this gemstone makes it non-transparent unlike a normal Ruby. One of the best facts about Star Rubies is that they produce 6 ray star which moves its centre with the slightest movement in the angle of vision. The Star Ruby gemstones are mainly mined in Mogok (Burma) and they share the same hardness as of a Ruby on the Moh’s Scale of Hardness, i.e. 9 out of 10.
