Bloodstone or the mineral Heliotrope is a form of Chalcedony (Amalgam of moganite and quartz) that is composed of Silica Dioxide.
The signature bloodspots present in the body of a Bloodstone are basically inclusions of red jasper or iron oxide. This magnificent gemstone carries a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Moh’s Scale of Hardness. Known by the name of Bloodstone due to the presence of the bloodspots like inclusions in its body, this alluring gemstone gets its actual name Heliotrope from Greek words “Helios” and “Trepein” which stand for “Sun” and “To turn” respectively.
